A Little About Avery

Avery is a neurodivergent trans artist. He moved to the U.S. from England in 2004 at the age of 18 and left behind a lack of creative resources in Northamptonshire, England, to find a surprising abundance of creative opportunities here in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He received an Associate of Fine Arts from Minneapolis Community and Technical College in 2010 and continued on to receive his Bachelor’s degree in Studio Arts from Metropolitan State University in 2021. Avery is also working as a teaching artist through Upstream Arts, an organization that amplifies the voices of individuals with disabilities through the creative arts.

It has been the ability to create art that has seen him through many personal and professional obstacles. Not only is it a key part of his therapeutic process, but it is also an effective communication tool, utilized to advocate for him and others.
